Just Announced

We’re excited to announce that Doomtree are coming to The Sett on March 9th. I’m sure that most of you currently living in the Midwest know who the enormously successful Minneapolis collective is, but the group is made up of emcees P.OS., Sims, Dessa, Mike Mictlan, and Cecil Otter, as well as DJs Paper Tiger and Lazerbeak. They’ve released numerous excellent records, separately and together, with latest release No Kings being a prime example. Come see some homegrown hip-hop for free, as always.

We’re also excited to announce that Rosie Thomas will hit the stage at The Sett on March 24th. The Michigan singer-songwriter’s sixth LP With Love will appropriately be released on February 14th, Valentine’s Day. Don’t want to wait until then? You can currently download her last album for free and hear a few new ones over at her site.

Listen: Carter Tanton

Carter Tanton of Lower Dens released his solo album Freeclouds in November of last year and if you haven’t heard it yet you’re just missing out. Fight your musical illiteracy this weekend when he performs Saturday at FRZN at the High Noon.

ALSO DON’T FORGET

Lower Dens will be playing here in Der Rath March 9th with Yellow Ostrich and Grace Weber!

Download A Lull’s “Some Love” Single + 3 Remixes

It’s a brutal truth: It’s almost time for school again. But on the bright side, the beginning of a new semester also means a return of WUD Music concerts. One of the concerts we’re pumped for is Deleted Scenes / A Lull on February 4th at The Sett, and the following news only makes it harder to wait.

For the moment, if you “like” Mush Records’ Facebook page, you can download A Lull’s “Some Love” single, along with three remixes of the track. The original is excellent, with pulsating drums and daybreak harmonies. Head over and listen for yourself, and be sure to make it out to The Sett when the band hits the stage in a few weeks.

Mood-O-Meter

I was trying to use an app on spotify that makes playlists for you based on your mood. They’re bad obviously (personally I don’t want to listen to Cher when I’m feeling romantic), so I thought I can maybe do this better. Of course I only have a few, you’ll notice angsty, depressed, trippin b*llz, rainy, shame spiral, and many others are missing so feel free to leave an emoticon with a corresponding song.

MOOD: I want something soulful, no synthy bleepy bloops or bass drops for me today
