Best Buy & WUD Music Present: Neon Indian & Kreayshawn

FRIDAY, OCT. 28TH | UNION SOUTH | THE SETT | 8 PM

Ever since Pitchfork expressed their shock over Kreayshawn and Neon Indian‘s college tour dates together (which launched at the University of Iowa on Monday), we’ve been eagerly awaiting this show. Neon Indian was named in Pitchfork’s Best New Music and one of Rolling Stone’s hottest new bands of 2010. There’s certainly a lot of hype for this indie electronic group and Kreayshawn is sure to entertain as well. Since the Best New Artist nominee’s “Gucci Gucci” hit it big, there’s already been heaps of drama surrounding the California-born star. This indie rap/electronic duo will not disappoint, so don’t miss it!

Check out Neon Indian’s performance of “Polish Girl” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon below and if you haven’t seen the video for Kreayshawn’s “Gucci Gucci” yet, we highly suggest that you get out from under your rock and check it out. You won’t regret it!

We’re eager to see this show and happy to bring a piece of this great (however unexpected) tour to UW-Madison!

Tonight! DMF with Nick Nice

Remember last week’s DMF? If it’s a little hazy TRUST US, you had a good time and tonight’s DMF with Nick Nice is sure to be just as wild. Madison’s own favorite DJ helped establish the Midwest rave scene back in the 90s and while living in Paris for some years was hired as the resident DJ by then artistic director David Guetta. He’s performed with many talented artists including: Daft Punk, Kaskade, Deadmau5, Right Said Fred, L.A. Riots, Solid Gold, and Bonobo to name a few.

After coming back home he’s had numerous successful businesses including his own record store and top rated radio show. Always throwin down the best for Madison, he’s been voted best DJ in the city many years in a row by various media sources.

It’s Friday, midterms are just about to be over if they’re not already, do some shots, get crazy and come dance all night (well 2am)!

i’m in the mood for a dance party

yes i realize it’s a tuesday morning, but that doesn’t change the way i feel. unfortunately a dance party just isn’t going to happen right now since i’m in a poli sci class. but there is a dance party on the way. as you may have heard, steve aoki is coming to the majestic on december 12th. tickets are on sale now. did you get your’s yet? if not, what’s your excuse? exams don’t start until wednesday this year so you won’t be studying. we all know that no one will really start hitting the books until tuesday night anyways. here’s a sample of what’s to come on the 12th.

the music of game day

it’s game day in madison. you know what that means.

fortunately for us all, game day also includes a free show by ghetto division in the rathskeller tonight. so come celebrate the homecoming victory/drown your sorrows (depending on the outcome of the game) at the rathskeller with some great music, dancing, and beer.

rock on folks,
margaretkaye

are you ready?

Woah. Fresh blood has livened up the blog a bit, have you noticed?

In any case, we have some really fab shows coming up…

This Friday, Peter Truby’s last stand: Sugar and Gold:

Ghetto Division Saturday. Have you had enough Rob Threezy in the last few months? The Cardinal this summer… Forward in September… Can you have too much of a good thing?

And a week from Friday — October 23 — something I have personally been anticipating since, oh, June, maybe?

Great Lake Swimmers. If you saw them last spring at the High Noon, you know their live show is excellent. And if you haven’t – here’s your chance.

Get yourselves ready, kids.

Getting Green with Paul Cebar

Thanks to Engineers Without Borders, WUD Music was able to bring you a show powered entirely by bike power! As part of the Madison community, we are constantly aware of the impact we have on the environment. But in addition to being conscientious world citizens, we are also committed to bringing you great music, so eliminating the carbon footprint of a show like Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound seemed only natural…

cebarstage

Cebar’s band, the present incarnation of the R&B Cadets and Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans, got the whole Terrace crowd on their feet and dancing with their soulful version of world music. From funk to zydeco, including their “one that sounds like a ska song,” their lively music was the perfect complement to a gorgeous midsummer night.
